Momme is a way to measure the quality of silk. Fabric quality is usually measured based on density, but since silk is so thin and silk consists of so many threads, Mulberry silk is instead measured in weight - Momme. The higher the momme, the higher the weight and quality.

The standard for silk bedding is usually between 12-16 momme, while SOÀs products are all in 22 momme. A pillowcase in 22 momme contains 20 times more silk thread than a pillowcase in 19 momme.

Pillowcases made in lower momme are significantly cheaper to produce and therefore more common on the market. A pillowcase in 22 momme contains an ideal amount of silk and lasts for several years longer than silk pillowcases in lower momme.
